DICKINSON, Texas – Bayou Chantilly in Dickinson is more than just a neighborhood. In the wake of Hurricane Harvey it embodies the meaning of community in every sense of the word.

“We have a wonderful neighborhood and a wonderful community and neighbors and they are just wonderful people,” Sara Jackson said.

Nearly three months after Harvey, most of the neighborhood is still devastated.

Some residents are living in RVs parked in their driveway while others who are back in the homes don’t have everything they need to prepare a holiday meal.

The group, Moms on a Mission, has been helping the families in the neighborhood since Harvey hit by providing them with more than just the basic necessities.

“New clothes, shoes, school supplies for their children, a hot meal,” Leah Frakes said.

With the Thanksgiving holiday fast approaching, they used social media to share the needs of the families.

Clear Lake Infiniti’s Clear Lake Cares Team responded by partnering with Grazia Italian Kitchen to prepare and serve a hot meal to more than 30 residents.

“Events like this, being able to come out here and give back really makes you understand the magnitude of what happened during Harvey,” said Bill Frank of Clear Lake Infiniti.

The first house in the neighborhood to be renovated since the floods from Harvey hosted the Thanksgiving feast.

“We are so happy she is there but we all have a long way to go. It’s hard; we’re all trying to help each other,” said Kristie Huffman.

A community is coming together, thankful they haven’t been forgotten and grateful to know they are not alone in the fight to rebuild their lives.
