A Sugar Land restaurateur plans to bring the Prohibition era back to the Houston area.

Although the drinks will be legal this time, the new speakeasy under construction beside Adrian Hembree‘s Grazia Italian Kitchen will require a password. It will also have a dress code and secret entrance and potentially will feature jazz music.

The bar, located at 9415 Broadway St. in Pearland, is set to open by mid-September, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Hembree and general manager Larry Bates plan to change the password daily and disclose it to bar regulars and patrons at the restaurant next door.

The yet-to-be-named speakeasy will serve upscale cocktails separate from Grazia’s Italian menu and will have limited seating.

Several other vintage-themed bars have announced plans to open in the Houston-area recently.

Last month, the Moonshiners Southern Table & Bar held its soft opening downtown, with a menu focused on wine, craft beer and cocktails made with moonshine, or unaged bourbon.

A former Galleria-area burlesque bar, Prohibition, is moving to a new location, while Barringer Bar & Lounge, another speakeasy, also recently relocated within downtown Houston.

Meanwhile, one of Houston’s oldest bars, Leon’s Lounge is under new management and has plans to reopen next month.
